1. I still love watching cartoons. The more recent ones are Avatar, Ben 10, Justice League, Xiaolin Showdown (but not as much), Magic Knight Rayearth and a bit of Sailor Moon (up until before they completed the whole Sailor Soldier Solar System and had Sailor Soldiers who were boys in their normal form who turned into girls).
But I still watch the golden oldies that I grew up with if I get a chance. Voltes V (The ultimate cartoon!!!! Ako si Steve), Superfriends (Saturday Fun Machine!!! Flash), Super GI Joe, Transformers (ako si Perceptor, Bumblebee, Blaster, and Kupp), Voltron (Keith), Thundercats (Tygra), He-Man (Man-at-Arms, Stratos, Orko), She-Ra (more because I wanted to see what else she could do with her more versatile sword and what else Light Hope of the elusive Crystal Castle could do aside from shimmer and shine), Centurions (ako yung Green), M.A.S.K. (ako yung master of disguises), Jayce and Wheeled Warriors (puwede na), SilverHawks (Steelwill), Laserion... etc, etc...
2. I am, for all intents and purposes, a shy and a relatively insecure person.
Yes, hard as it may seem to ingest and believe. Most of my recent powers, yung kakapalan ng mukha na magsalita sa harap ng maraming tao, come from the fact that I have a job to do. Besides, in a sea of people, there is a certain degree of anonymity that is generated. We really can't get to know each other.
In a smaller setting, it's much easier for me to be self-conscious because I can see more closely the reactions of the people I'm with. Thus, in such a setting, I tend to fade into the background and wait and be quiet. Sometimes, in a case like that, people who don't know me think that I'm suplado and aloof. But then, when we are introduced and we get to know each other, I quickly disabuse them of the idea.
3. I have acrophobia.
Maybe the better term is "falling"-phobia. Basta kung may possibility na mahulog... umaandar ang phobia ko. The tingling uncomfortable situation in my legs is triggered by high places and sitting on the side or roof of any moving open vehicle (pick up, jeep, truck, bus, etc.) And I don't have to be the person exposed to such circumstances. Other people sitting on ledges trigger my irrational imagination...
4. I like to sing.
I like music and singing and I'm still not sure if I'm good at it but I've been asked to sing several times. This is where my shyness and insecurity kicks in. These days, mostly in masses. But I'd really like to become better at singing. Not for a career but maybe just to push the limits of what I can do.
5. I am an avid follower of Philippine popular culture... showbiz, in other words.
Back when I was more clueless and a lot less picky, I used to watch Tito, Vic and Joey... in the movie house. I also watched Maricel's Inday series (Inday Bote, Inday sa Balitaw and I think there was Super Inday and the Magic Bibe), the Aiza movies and one or two Matet movies. Today, I look back and... well, am happy that I can look back and still look forward to the other things that I am excited about.
I will not apologize for Bagets 1 & 2 and Ninja Kids, though.
My fascination with Pinoy Pop Culture extends to TV. When I was younger, I was a Kapamilya.I was a major Okey Ka Fairy Ko groupie. It was almost a religious habit... Thursday evenings at 8:30 on ABS-CBN. I used to watch out for the World Tonight because they had the cutting edge graphics... especially the business news. I like ABS-CBN's station IDs. Very different, very out of the box. Until today, they seem to do it better. Unfortunately, I was turned off by Marina... their version of a mermaid epic... they started adding on all sorts of powers and magical items that required a PhD to follow. But the agimat that broke the camel's back was the elixir that would bring Marina back to life (I think)... "ang sabaw ng okub"... say okub fast 10 times and you begin to realize that it's the reverse of "buko". So I became a Kapuso after that.
Beyond the network wars, I was a major Oh Tokyo fanatic. Those of you who don't know Oh Tokyo don't know TV. :) Look it up. It's by WINS... a production outfit run by Filipinas who work in Japan. Classic.
Today, I still follow Pinoy showbiz. Okey Ka Fairy Ko was replaced by Mulawin and Encatadia (I liked this spin-off more than Mulawin) as THE tv shows to religiously follow. (I used the word religiously very loosely only for this entry).
I watch sappy Pinoy love stories (Gotta Believe and the Regine-Richard love story set in the Manila Post office are personal favorites) and Ruffa Mae Quinto comedies (ibang level talaga siya).
This ends part 1 of Tagged. :)
